An Affordable Program in London

COSTS

We have been granted some extra funding from the Center for International Programs.  Thus, the program fees have been reduced!.

Program fees for the 2020 trip to London are estimated to be around $1800 per person ( not including a $100 CIP application fee).  For more details, please contact Dr. Waite.

A summary of the total trip cost you will incur to participation will include three types:

1) Tuition and Fees: As for any WCU class, you will have to pay tuition and fees. ~$1215 for in-state undergraduate tuition for this 3-credit class.

Application Fee: A $100 Center for International Programs application fee that supports CIP.  This will be Charged to your WCU account once you click the "Submit Application" button on the on-line application. This is a one time fee.  So, if you ache applied for a previous International program, this will not be applied a second time.

2) Flight and Personal Travel: You will be allowed to book your own flight to our destination. I will provide extensive details about which flights are recommended as we get closer to the trip. If you decide to tack on any personal travel at the end of the trip, you will be fully responsible for any of those expenses. The only restriction is the USA to LONDON date and time.  We can talk about details later once you have committed to the program and we have enough participation to offer the program.

3) Program Fees: This is the $1800 mentioned above.  These will cover the excursions, classroom, administrative costs, some group meals, and group travel while abroad.

The Program fees are due as follows:

-You will be charged the Program fees through your WCU account with the Bursars Office.  This expense will be tentatively be posted sometime in Mid-March.

As mentioned above, this costs does not include flight or tuition. Thus, you are responsible for these as well. I do not include the flight costs here because they can vary greatly depending on your own resources. You will be required to purchase a flight on the class travel dates (June 7, 2020 to June 27, 2020), but you can choose to fly from Newark or JFK airports, or even Washington or another location. Flights from the New York City airports typically run about $500 less than flights from Philadelphia. You can also use any frequent flyer points or credit card points that you or your parents or other family or friends have accumulated to further reduce the flight cost. Please see the "Flights" page for further details. DO NOT PURCHASE YOUR TICKET UNTIL CONSULTING WITH DR. WAITE ABOUT YOUR FLIGHT!

In addition to the program fees, the normal West Chester University Summer Session Tuition and Fees apply. For a 3 credit class, for in-state students, the tuition and fees for Summer Session 2020 have not been posed yet.  But in 2019 they were $1215. Here is a link to the 2019 Winter & Summer Term Tuition and General Fees

Financial Aid is available, depending on your Aid Package. There is more information at the CIP website so check there first. Then you should contact your financial aid advisor to find out what your package will cover.

Also, I know that at least one student in the past set up a Go Fund Me type program to solicit donations for family and friends to help alleviate the costs.  Sometimes it is surprising = how many family friends and family members are willing to throw a few dollars your way for such a great opportunity!  See me for details if you are interested.
